Hands-On History Center Peek Into the Past

Kindergarten, Grades One and Two

This program strives to introduce young learners to lifestyle characteristics of 19th century southwest Ohio through the concepts of family life, transportation, communication and changes over time. During their 90-minute visit to the Village, Students will be able to:

  • Visit several 19th century buildings.
  • Participate in hands-on learning activities.
  • Experience elements of an 1870-era lifestyle through their senses and different learning styles.
  • Recognize similarities and differences between their lives today and the lives of people 130(+) years ago.
  • Become aware of how change happens over time and that certain innovations can activate that change.

During their 90-minute visit to the Village, students will experience elements of an 1870-era lifestyle through their senses and different learning styles.

The program provides an opportunity for the children to visit several restored 19th-century buildings, participate in hands-on learning activities, recognize similarities and differences between their lives today and the lives of the people 130 (+) years ago, discover how change happens over time and that certain innovations can activate change, and experience elements of an 1870-era lifestyle through their senses and different learning styles.

Peek Into the Past is available to students in Kindergarten & Grades One and Two, Monday through Friday.

Time: 90 minutes
Cost: $5.00 per child.
Chaperones required: 1 per 10 children (at no charge)
Additional Chaperones: $7.00
Capacity: Up to 45 students per session
