Event: Annie Oakley Weekend
Date: July 7 & 8
Gallery: -
Description:
Phoebe Ann Mosey

Born near Greenville, Ohio on August 13, 1860, Phoebe Ann Mosey began shooting game at the ripe old age of “8”! Her steadiness and aim were honed through hunting game for her widowed mother, and her brother and sisters. By the age of sixteen she was a dead shot and went to Cincinnati to enter a shooting contest with Frank E. Butler, her future husband and manager. She won the match by a single point which set her on the path to stardom. She purportedly took the stage name of “Oakley” after the town of Oakley, Ohio.

Annie Oakley was a skilled marksman by the age of 16. She joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and toured the United States during the 1890s.

Come see the reinactment at the Heritage Village.

Annie Oakley, Wild Bill Hickock, and Buffalo Bill will be on site with show and skits, shoot outs and tricks. Enjoy a buffalo burger, and see demonstrations in the Village.
