Heritage Village Museum hosts FREE Open House

featuring

Vintage Base Ball Festival

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 10:00am-3:00pm the Heritage Village Museum will host a“Free Open House” which will also feature the annual Vintage Base Ball Festival!

The Heritage Village Museum, Cincinnati’s only outdoor living history museum, will showcase its twelve historic buildings, all of which were moved into Sharon Woods Park from other locations in the region.  Interpreters at the museum provide facts and stories that bring the Village and the history of Southwestern Ohio to life!  Visitors will get to tour through the buildings which include Chester Park Train Station, Kemper Log House, Somerset Church, and many more.

Museum guests will also delight in watching the Vintage Base Ball Festival, which will also be played in the Village during the Open House.  Featured in the festival are Cincinnati’s own vintage base ball teams, The Cincinnati Red Stockings and the Cincinnati Buckeyes.   The festival is played strictly for the fun of playing the game, and to celebrate the great game of base ball, as it was played in its early years, primarily the 1860s.  The teams re-create the game wearing authentic uniforms, using authentic equipment (no gloves!), and playing by the rules and customs of the day.

Admission to both the Open House and the Base Ball Festival is free!

Heritage Village Museum is located inside the lovely Sharon Woods Park in Sharonville, OH. Vehicles are required to have the Hamilton County Park Pass to enter.  Pass is $3/day or $10/year.
