Hauck House
The Hauck House was built by George W. Skaats in 1870. Mr. Skaats was a wealthy coal dealer who served in government as a city alderman and an Ohio representative. A few years following Mr. Skaat's death the house was purchased by John Hauck, a prominent Cincinnati brewer. Mr. Hauck was born in southern Germany in 1829, came to America in his early twenties and began working as a brewer. He married in 1858 and by 1863, with an associate, had established the firm oa Hauck and Windisch. Upon Mr. Windisch's death, John Hauck bought the remaining interests in the firm. The Hauck brewery was in operation until the time of Prohibition.
The Hauck House has a center hall with parlors on each side. The structure is of brick and with an added stone facade. The House is fully furnished in the time period of the Hauck family, with many original pieces.
